South Carolina Lawyers Weekly's 2026 Excellence in Law list.
The Excellence in Law program honors attorneys across South Carolina who demonstrate outstanding professional achievement, leadership and service to the legal community. Nick received the "Icon" designation, an honor awarded to attorneys with 30 years or more of practice, while Sterling was selected as a “Leader and Phenom,” which recognizes attorneys with at least 10 years of practice.
Nick has served as the firm’s Managing Director since 2013, leading its strategic direction and operations. His practice focuses on procurement and government contracts, construction law and local government law. Nick is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Construction Law, Government Contracts and Litigation-Construction and received the Compleat Lawyer award from the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Council in 2019, an honor recognizing attorneys who demonstrate outstanding civic and professional accomplishments. He is also a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and Leadership Greenville.
Sterling is a shareholder in the Charleston office, where her practice centers on mergers and acquisitions and broader corporate law matters. She advises domestic and international companies as well as individuals on transactions, tax structuring and planning and general corporate governance. Sterling has been recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and Charleston Business Magazine "Legal Elite of the Lowcountry.” She is also a graduate of Leadership Charleston and has held leadership and service roles with Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, the Charleston Tax Council, the University of South Carolina School of Law Young Alumni Council, the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division and the Richland County Bar Association.
