Law Clerk Program

Our goal is to recruit and retain diverse, talented, ambitious law students who want to build their careers at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd. We offer a collaborative environment where doors are always open and where diverse, outstanding lawyers work as a team to help our clients achieve their business goals.

Our Law Clerk Program is designed to provide an accurate depiction of life as a HSB attorney, to let the law clerk get to know us and to let us get to know them. We offer extensive lawyer training, guidance and opportunities for hands-on experience early in your career. Many of our law clerks work on major trials and business transactions within the first year with the firm.

Program Overview

The HSB Law Clerk Program is the most important element of our recruitment efforts. Each year, we hire a small group of exceptional law students to participate in this program. Our goal is to find those individuals who have the potential for outstanding legal careers and other qualifications that will allow them to make a meaningful contribution to the firm, our clients and the community.

By making the program a firm priority, we want to make sure each Law Clerk has an opportunity to experience what it is like to be an attorney at HSB. To achieve this goal, we make every effort to see that all Law Clerks are exposed to a wide range of activities, including:

  • Exposure to the court system;
  • Observation of closings, depositions, trials, arbitrations, mediations or oral arguments;
  • Opportunities to produce various legal documents that are reviewed and actually used for the benefit of clients;
  • Participation in a wide variety of research projects; and
  • Opportunities to be exposed to many of the different practice areas within the firm.

Law students completing their first and second years are encouraged to apply. The application process for our 2025 program is now open. Please submit a resume and current grade report to the HSB Recruiting Committee at recruiting@hsblawfirm.com by January 31, 2025.
