Joseph D. Dickey, Jr. Named 2026 Best Lawyers® ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for Employment Law - Individuals in Columbia

The "Lawyer of the Year" recognition goes to individual lawyers who receive the highest overall peer feedback for their practice area and geographic region. Only one lawyer in each specialty and metropolitan area receives this designation each year, based on Best Lawyers' extensive peer-review process.
This marks the second time Joseph has received this recognition, having previously been named "Lawyer of the Year" for Employment Law – Individuals in Columbia in 2022. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2021 in Education Law and Employment Law – Individuals.
Joseph represents employers and employees in a wide range of labor and employment matters, including claims under the ADA, ADEA, Title VII, the Equal Pay Act, the FMLA, and the FLSA. He defends clients in employment-related claims and litigation before administrative agencies such as the DOL and the EEOC, as well as in state and federal courts. He also counsels clients on personnel decisions and executive employment agreements, including contract negotiation and dispute resolution.
Beyond his practice, Joseph serves his community as District Four Councilman for the City of West Columbia, a position he has held since 2019. He is also a certified circuit court mediator and an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law.
