HSB’s Demetrius Pyburn Takes Leave of Absence for Military Service

October 10, 2023
Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. is proud to announce that Demetrius Pyburn has accepted a Tour of Duty, where he will support the U.S. Army’s Central Command through the review of their procurement contracts, investigations and ethics/standard of conduct inquiries for the next year.

Prior to attending law school, Demetrius enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, U.S. Army. Following law school, Demetrius continued his service in the U.S. Army and currently serves as a Logistics Specialist with the 324th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, U.S. Army Reserves. After joining the firm, Demetrius determined he could serve while using his law degree and, in 2022, applied to and was accepted into the National Guard’s JAG Officer program. In 2023, Demetrius attended the JAG’s Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course, a six-week program of military leadership training at Fort Moore, Georgia, followed by a ten-and-a-half-week academic training at the Judge Advocate’s General’s Legal Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. HSB congratulates and supports Demetrius as he continues to serve our country.

Demetrius temporarily steps away from the firm’s Employment Law team during this year, but the Team looks forward to having him back on board at the conclusion of the program. Demetrius provides advice and counsel to employers on everyday human resource compliance issues involving the FMLA, FLSA, NLRB, Title VII, USERRA, state law employment statutes and other employment-related regulations. He is a frequent and outstanding presenter and educator in these employment categories.
