Greenville Mayor Proclaims December 12, 2012 Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd Day
Greenville Mayor Knox H. White proclaimed today, December 12th, 2012, Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd Day, recognizing the law firm’s 125 years of legal service and support of the economic growth of Greenville, the Upstate, and South Carolina.
Today’s event was held on the rooftop of 103 N. Main Street, at Bergamo Piazza in downtown Greenville, and included a photo opportunity of the firm’s lawyers.
The mayor presented Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Managing Director Anne S. Ellefson with a proclamation honoring the firm’s 125 years of providing legal services to local, state, regional, national, and international clients. With a history dating back to 1887, it is one of the largest law firms in the Carolinas with more than 130 attorneys. In addition to the firm’s Greenville office, there are five other office locations in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, and Myrtle Beach, SC, and Washington, DC.
In early January 2013, the law firm will return to its birthplace - Greenville’s Main Street - and will be a major tenant in the ONE project at the corner of Main and Washington Streets. Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd will relocate approximately 100 employees, including 46 attorneys, from its current offices at Two Liberty Square, 75 Beattie Place, to ONE N. Main Street, a $100 million, 375,000-square-foot mixed-use development leased by Hughes Development Corp.
Mayor White, a shareholder of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., leads the firm’s Immigration and Customs practice. As mayor since 1995, he has spearheaded downtown redevelopment activities, including riverfront and park development, downtown retail and residential revitalization.
