HSB Webinar Announcement – Employment Law Pitfalls: What Employers Get Wrong (Even When They Think They Are Right)

April 08, 2025 - Christine Gantt-Sorenson

Guest speaker Jacob Modla, Cromer Babb & Porter, will join HSB’s Chris Gantt-Sorenson on April 24, 2025, from 12-1PM for a practical discussion on how legally sound decisions can still create risk if not handled correctly.

We’ll cover some of the most common errors that Jake sees from the plaintiff’s employment law bench, including:

  • Communications with employees and how it can impact an employer’s liability for a claim that is otherwise legally sound;
  • Training for managers and supervisors who are the front-line communicators with employees;
  • Remote work and employer’s return to in-person work policies, and how that interacts with the Americans with Disabilities Act;
  • Binding independent contractors under agreements that preclude them from continuing to work in their field after their agreement with the employer is ended; and
  • Misclassification of managers or team leads who are not properly classified as exempt employees and paid salaries in lieu of overtime.

We invite you to submit any questions via registration or to Keely Yates.

HSB is an approved SHRM provider, and this course will be submitted for SHRM, HRCI and SC CLE credits.
