Mac McLean Named President of the Boy Scouts of America Blue Ridge Council

January 18, 2018

Mac McLean, a shareholder at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, has been named President of the Boy Scouts of America Blue Ridge Council.

Mac has served on the Blue Ridge Council Board of Directors since 1993 and served on the National Council from 2015-2017 as Area President. He received his Eagle Scout from Troop 477 in Florence, South Carolina, where he served 8 summers on the council camp staff and attended Philmont Scout Ranch and the 1977 National Scout Jamboree.

Mac knows the Boy Scouts of America inside and out through his time as a scout, volunteer and parent of an Eagle Scout. “Mac is just as comfortable in the woods, in his scout uniform, getting his hands dirty, setting up a tent and hiking trails as he is in the board room,” said Mike Butler, Boy Scouts of America Blue Ridge Council Scout Executive Director. “He’s ultimately qualified to serve as our council president.”

When asked what he likes best about Scouting, Mac said, “I like that Scouting takes today’s youth into the outdoors and that will be, for many young people, their first real outdoor adventure. We have fewer outdoor opportunities for youth today.”

A Certified Tax Specialist, Mac focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, corporate tax planning and retirement program planning.
