Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s John Tiller to Receive Compleat Lawyer Award

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd attorney John Tiller has been recognized as a 2018 Gold Compleat Lawyer by the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Established in 1992, the Compleat Lawyer Award recognizes USC School of Law alumni for making significant contributions to the legal professions and exemplify the highest standard of professional competence, ethics and integrity. Awards are given in three categories based on years in practice: Platinum (31 years or more), Gold (16 – 30 years) and Silver (15 or fewer years). The recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony on Thursday, April 19.

As the leader for HSB’s Insurance Defense practice group, John focuses primarily on products liability, premises liability and personal injury actions, including complex matters involving numerous plaintiffs. John is a deeply experienced and widely respected trial lawyer and mediator. He was inducted into the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals in 2016. Membership is by invitation only, after peer review, and limited to attorney arbitrators and mediators with proven experience in the field and those who meet stringent practice criteria.

A 1987 graduate of the law school, John has received numerous awards for his work in litigation. He was named Benchmark Litigation “Local Litigation Star” in 2018 as well as Best Lawyers® 2018 Personal Injury Litigation – Defense “Lawyer of the Year” for Charleston. John has served on the Boards for the College of Charleston Cougar Club and the College of Charleston Foundation. John has also served as President of the Charleston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
